Mayor Carlo P. Rabat through his Chief of Staff Tanya Rabat-Tan joined with the other 10 municipalities of the province of Davao Oriental, and the rest of 10 ASEAN country members – Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, in the celebration of the 50th ASEAN Day at Mt. Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an ASEAN Heritage Park.
The occasion, that marked the ASEAN landmark lighting ceremony along with the other 49 landmark sites nationwide, gathered different communities of different traditions and cultures in support to the celebration with the theme, Partnering for Change, Engaging the World.
Having been conferred the chairmanship of the ASEAN’ golden anniversary, DILG XI Regional Director Alex Roldan, the Keynote Speaker in the said event, stressed in his message that “this is Philippinizing the world for a wider sense of community integration, paving a better way of living for the Filipinos.”
