The thrust of Mayor Carlo P. Rabat through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CiENRO) to Conserve, Protect and Respect (CPR) the environment has become an annual celebration.

On the occasion of the season of love, Mati’s Feb-Ibig month also celebrates Love Affair with Nature, a personal committed encounter with nature to keep the environment clean and green.

CPR Program Coordinator Francis Louie Bordas, the Assistant CiENR Officer, expressed his joy over the continued patronage and support of people to this significant environmental cause.

Previously, love affair with nature through mangrove planting activity was conducted at the Mangrove Forest Park, Guang-guang, Dahican. This year, coastal clean-up drive was undertaken at the same site by almost 600 participants from various volunteer groups and government agencies.

Being a protected area, Guang-guang Mangrove Forest Park provides a venue for interaction of people and nature that has produced an area of distinct character with significant ecological, biological, cultural, economical and scenic value. Thus, safeguarding the integrity of this interaction through constant mangrove planting and clean-up drive is vital to protecting and sustaining the area.
