As early as last month of August, preparations are now underway for the staging of this year`s colorful 10TH Sambuokan Festival with several events calendared for a week - long celebration in October.

AUTHORITIES STRENGTHENS SECURITY MEASURES IN CELEBRATION OF THE PAROCHIAL FIESTA

Authorities in the Municipality of Mati headed by the Philippine National Police (PNP)  strengthens its security measures to safeguard the people and visitors in time of the town’s fiesta celebration of St. Nicholas de Tolentino on September 9 and 10, 2010.

Police Senior Supt. Fermin G. Valdez said that in coordination with other concerned agencies, they will continue in providing security coverage and undertaking related administrative and operational activities to ensure a successful and orderly conduct of the 73rd Parochial Fiesta in the municipality.

A joint security task force of the PNP and the Philippine Army is created to guarantee a successful implementation of the security plan. Joining the security task force are the Army Reservists, Civil Security Unit (CSU Mati), KARANCHO, DREAMS 166, DOSMART, Citizens Crime Watch (CCW), Brgy. Tanods, Boys Scouts of the Philippines, PNP Highway Patrol, and Local Traffic Office.

Earlier, the Local Government of Mati headed by Mayor Michelle N. Rabat intensified the security measures in creating a team that will ensure the peace and order situation in the town before and during the fiesta celebration.
 
Philippine National Police of Mati is now taking the lead in securing the people and strategic places in Mati in the whole duration of the town’s fiesta celebration. PNP, Army and civic volunteer groups will be deployed in different areas like the cathedral, “peryahan – ukay – ukayan”, poblacion and Mati Park and Baywalk.

Mati Mayor Rabat is grateful for the supportive efforts extended by the volunteer groups who have been the partners of the LGU in securing peace and order in the town’s fiesta celebration.
