MATI-PNP COULD BE THE NEXT BEST RURAL POLICE STATION IN THE COUNTRY

1/27/2010
by Neela G. Duallo

City of Mati . Davao Oriental – After they went through the evaluation for their nomination in the search for The Best Rural Police Station, the Mati-PNP is now scuffled with excitement as they await the decision for the said recognition, where Mati is already one of the three finalists.

“The evaluators will consolidate their assessment and submit their assessment and endorsement to the PNP Director General who will render the decision,” Mati Chief of Police Fermin Valdez said.

Though being one of the three finalists is in itself, already a big honor for Mati, but there is reason to hope for the best.

Among the basis in choosing the Best Rural Police Station is the performance of the station, the administrative operation, among others.

Mayor Michelle Rabat is happy with the achievement of the Mati-PNP.

“I have always been supportive to the Mati Police. I am very particular with their needs, that is why the city government is trying to provide them with such, like the computers, digital camera, and most importantly, their fuel for their operations,” the Mayor explained.

After, the city government will be working on the new building for the Mati-PNP.

“We already have the site for the new building, a 1,800 square meters lot. It will be a counter parting scheme with the PNP.

Also in the top three are the Tiwi Police Station in Albay, and Zamboangueta in Negros Oriental.

The two other contenders are fourth class municipalities, while Mati is a first class municipality before it became a component city.

“But it will now be the evaluators move to meet their requirements with the respective classifications of the municipalities,” Valdez added.

As their morals are now at its peak, the Mati-PNP is continuously asking for the support and cooperation of the public.

"We cannot do all these things, or we could not have gone this far without the help of the people. We want to assure them that their policemen are here for them, always with the task of protecting them," beamed Valdez .

The validating team who assessed Mati PNP`s nomination was composed of PSSupt. Rizaldo Tungala, Jr., PSSupt. Jeffrey Manere, and NUP Lemuel Divinagracia.
