The City Government of Mati through the Traffic Management Office (TMO) headed by Chief Nonilon P. Neri, around 155 modified mufflers, locally known as Bora-bora, were confiscated and crashed in public.
This is following the stricter implementation of the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) 2014-01 issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), LTFRB and approved by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
Bora-bora directly violates Section II.b of the said Order which states change and/or other unauthorized modifications of the standard manufacturer’s specification. Aside from the clear violation of unauthorized modification.
Supportive of the program, Mayor Carlo P. Rabat personally witnessed the demolition by the heavy compactor equipment at the back stage of the Mati Park and Baywalk. Mayor said in an interview that Bora-bora’s annoying loud noise is intolerable and causing too much disturbance in the public, and it has to be stopped.
“If this is one way to instill proper traffic discipline and road courtesy to the people, then this is the beginning of a better disciplinary measures to be taken up by this administration.” Chief Neri said.
