2 brand new waste collection vehicles have been blessed in the city hall compound administered by Fr. Marvin Ruyeras of the Ministers of the Infirm. These trucks are used for picking up garbage daily in the urban barangays and weekly in rural barangays, and then moving it to landfill where waste materials are managed and treated.
These trucks have an automated fork placed on the front that is operated by the driver who aligns the fork to put sleeves on the garbage container. As soon as the container receives, the garbage gets it compacted with the help of a packer blade.
In his local chief executive’s report to the matinians at the closing ceremonies of the Araw ng Mati 2016 festivities held at the Pelaez Activity Center last June 19, 2016, Mayor Carlo Rabat emphasizes his rallying point from a platform of change in the first term to a platform of continuing progress in this second term.
Since more and more people have flocked to Mati to explore its sights or experience the warmth of our people, the city government under the leadership of Mayor Caro and with the help of the City Council headed by Vice Mayor Glenda Rabat-Gayta, is up to the challenges ahead in making sure that Mati is apace and able to face progress and its requirements.
Acquisition of these brand new heavy equipment are just among the offshoots of the continuing progress of the dynamism of this present administration in response to the growing populace and increasing waste disposals in the city.
In addition to the other five (5) garbage trucks of the City, waste collection will be consistently reaching as far as Barangays Lawigan, Don Salvador Lopez, Taguibo and Macambol.
