The City Government of Mati through the City Cooperative Development Office headed by Amado Francisquete IV joins the opening salvo of the Cooperative Month celebration, together with the Cooperatives from different municipalities of Davao Oriental.
With the theme “Cooperatives: The Catalyst of Change for a New Era by Advancing the People’s Agenda in Poverty Alleviation and Social Transformation”, its kick off activities include fun walk and opening program at Mati Poblacion and Pelaez Activity Center respectively.
City Councilor Arman Valera, Chairman on the Committee of Cooperatives and Livelihood, stresses in his speech during the program how valuable Cooperative is in the development of the locality especially with the job opportunities and livelihood it provides, thus requires stronger support from partner agencies.
October marks the annual celebration of Cooperative Month throughout the nation. This month-long celebration is traditionally recognized and participated in by cooperatives and their members, the government sector, the non-government organizations and the entire cooperative movement by way of conducting and joining the activities that promote cooperativism, and its impact to social and economic development.
