On its 65th anniversary celebration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) confers the 2015 Seal of Child-friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) to the City Government of Mati.
The City of Mati has been awarded for 2 consecutive years with DSWD Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance. The first ever award for the City was given in 2014 under the administration of Mayor Carlo P. Rabat and today for the second time, the City received the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance for 2015.
The seal is given to Local Government Units (LGUs) that were able to generate positive programs and services for the welfare of the children based on their performance from the previous year 2015.
Further, City of Mati is also awarded as the Model LGU Implementing Day Care Service Program. Mati is the only awardee of this recognition in the entire region.
The award is a recognition of the city’s role in promoting children’s rights to survival, development, protection and participation as well as in ensuring child-friendly governance.
LGUs with SCFLG are qualified for incentive and award under the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and Cities (PACFMC).
City Executive Assistant Tanya Rabat-Tan and CSWDO Officer Virginia Almaida received the award today at Apo View Hotel, Davao City.
