If there is one more thing that Mayor Carlo P. Rabat is pleased with continuing progress in the City aside from a brighter Mati, it is the realization of a fundamental safe haven for his constituents in times of dire necessity.
The City of Mati Evacuation Center located at Upper Bliss, Brgy. Sainz has graciously served as one of the essential cornerstones of Mati’s disaster preparedness program.
Turned over last June 14, the center is fully equipped with necessary facilities, viz from pantry to clinic to comfort rooms (5 rooms for each gender), moreover, person-with-disability (PWD) friendly amenity.
Aside from being ideally positioned in an elevated ground, it is very safe and secured from delinquents with its concrete and barred fence.
Thanks to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) through its Bottom-Up Budgeting (BUB) program, the center’s total cost of P 7.1M was realized after counterparting the amount of P 3.2M. The city government took care of the rest.
If Matinians had nowhere to settle down when calamity strikes, now in their trying times they have a place they can call a home.
