Mayor Carlo Rabat, joined by City Sports Coordinators Victor Rabat and Jun Agleron, takes pride with the City of Mati delegation during the recently concluded Batang Pinoy 2016 National Championships held at Tagum City, Davao del Norte last November 27 to December 2, 2016.

Rising to the top from other contingents in the entire nation are Gold Medalists Vanessa Bagay in Karatedo with Coach Stephany Beloria and Naifa Sarip, Mary Melody Taming, Allyssa Bandoy, Ynalyn Emparado and Hans Danielle Granzo with Coach Deng Damiles in Sepak Takraw Women’s Division.
Other prize-fighters coached by Mila Dumadag in Taekwondo are Silver Medalist Cybel Morales and Bronze Medalists Angelica Uyan and Ian Calub.
City of Mati’s fighting spirit also merited more bronze medals in Sepak Takraw Men’s Division played Christopher Kurt Miñoza, Jeff Ahron Ybañez, Joshua Bunga, Manuel Escurzon and Christian John Altovar with coach Jonathan Naylon.
Moreover, Jubelle Anne Nonol brawled with throwing heavy metal ball in Athletics that earned her Bronze Medal, with the assistance of Coach Bong Taraya.
Mayor Carlo was elated by the turnout of events leading him to give the medalists a monetary reward for the pride and honor of the City of Mati. Aside from that, Mayor also assures the athletes that the City will come up with more champions through best sports programs.
