Mayor Carlo P. Rabat welcomes the stakeholders of the Bitanagan and Mayo Floodplain Forum at SP Dormitel, Government Center, Dahican, City of Mati the past day.
Through the aid of the Phil-LiDAR 1 Project by the University of the Philippines – Mindanao and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the forum presented the preliminary output of the conducted several fieldwork activities along Bitanagan and Mayo River.
Attended by local officials of the concerned barangays, the gathering aims at coming up with flood hazard, flood depth, flood inundation and critical maps among others which will help the locality in the disaster preparedness and mitigation programs.
Moreover, results will be referred to the Project NOAH (National Operational Assessment of Hazards) and Project DREAM (Disaster Risk and Exposure Assessment for Mitigation) for further assessment and greater preventive measures against calamities.
In his message, Mayor Carlo expressed his gratitude to the organizers and lead facilitator of this activity for leading a safer and resilient City of Mati.
